MIXED BAG
Dave Mason was very good. My friend was reversed. I was there for the Doobie Brothers first and Trombone Shorty And Orleans Avenue second. He's a huge Trombone Shorty And Orleans Avenue fan. We've both seen our favorites multiple times.
Trombone Shorty And Orleans Avenue was another story. They turned up the volume and they were incredibly loud. Since when did they become a heavy metal group, even playing the national anthem in a heavy metal way? Also, the lead singer didn't need to run and jump around. So much of their music is softer in nature and they changed the tone. We were there for the music and almost every song was so loud when it didn't need to be.
DB were fabulous, as usual. They come out, do a terrific job as musicians and are great singers. I may have chosen a few different songs than some they chose, but that is a personal choice. Nothing fancy, but just good music by professionals.
My friend was so upset and disappointed that he wanted to leave after only about six songs, by 10:15. He has always seen Trombone Shorty And Orleans Avenue at a smaller casino venue and said they never sounded like that. He says he'll listen to Trombone Shorty And Orleans Avenue from now on via audio.
This was a mixed bag concert. I applaud everyone for performing so well in that extreme heat and humidity. I had never seen them live, but I agreed that it was almost painful to listen to. I was glad the Doobie Brothers came on first and were totally enjoyable.
We beat the parking lot traffic, which was a good thing. I wonder if others felt the same way.
